Introduction to the GEO Field Guide
A short opening chapter for the Geolyze field guide on AI answer visibility, GEO, and operator measurement.
Chapter notes
The GEO Field Guide is the long-form home for Geolyze’s operating ideas: how AI answer systems describe categories, cite sources, compare vendors, and shape buyer discovery.
This opening chapter is intentionally compact. It exists to establish the book structure, not to claim that the handbook is complete.
What the guide is for
The guide is for teams that need to move from vague AI-search concern to repeatable work. That means defining prompts, understanding citations, comparing competitors, improving source clarity, and measuring whether answers change.
The core promise is practical: treat AI answer visibility as an observable workflow, not as a mythology around algorithms.
What belongs in Book
Book chapters should carry durable field-guide material:
- Foundations that explain GEO and AEO.
- Measurement principles that remain useful across tools.
- Operator mental models for citations, entities, prompts, and answer quality.
- Longer handbook sections that would be too broad for a single guide or report.
Reports remain for market observations. Playbooks remain for step-by-step workflows. Book is the slower, cumulative layer.
